Hello and a warm welcome to A Pinch Of Positivity Counselling. I hope you find all the information you need here, if not please do not hesitate to contact me.

Let me Introduce myself...

My name is Claire. I have been a fully qualified counsellor for a number of years supporting people through difficult times. My work involves offering counselling to individuals, adolescents, children and families.

I aim to help anyway I can so I offer counselling in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, in primary/secondary schools, and I am happy to do home visits too.

We can all feel overwhelmed and find life too much at times. I have been in a very dark place in my life myself and it can feel very isolating. I found it difficult to share with others in my family or friends for fear of judgements, opinions or causing distress to others. I found counselling a huge support for me and felt it offered me an outlet for everything and learnt so much about myself in the process.

I feel the therapeutic space is valuable and supportive and I offer a safe therapeutic space to allow others to feel able to share and explore what maybe troubling them.

This can be for many reasons;

  • Anxiety

  • Social Isolation

  • Depression

  • Anger / behaviour issues

  • Family relationships

  • Abuse

  • Autism - OR now known as ASD

  • Self Harm

  • Trauma

  • Suicidal feelings

  • Phobias / Fears

  • Post-traumatic Stress (PTSD)

  • Bereavement

  • Carers

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Bullying

  • and I'm open to other elements that maybe challenging you

I am a qualified Integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in a number of different theoretical approaches to counselling. I use different approaches like;

  • talking therapies

  • creative

  • sensory play

  • systemic

  • music

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

There is more information on the 'next step' page about what these involve.

Using different approaches to counselling I am able to be responsive to each individual adjusting my therapeutic approach accordingly.

Following professionally qualifying as an adult counsellor, I went on to gain additional training in working with children and young people;

  • I gained second Diploma in child counselling. I have spent two years working with children in primary schools with children's charity Place2Be.

  • During my time within Place2Be I also facilitated group work involving up to 10 children working with interactions, differences and emotions between each other.

  • Completed support for children in Time2Talk where they dropped in to share for a limited time either individually or in friendship groups about any worries, or issues raised.

  • I have since worked both privately and in local primary schools offering emotional support to children and young people for a number of years now.

  • I have supportive individuals and families

  • I am currently studying postgraduate in child , adolescent and family mental well-being.

I continue to have training and professional development to support my careful work and aim to be mindful, gentle and ethical in my approach at all times.
